add electric field into periodic three dimensional structure

#1 Post by jinshang » Tue Jan 28, 2014 3:02 am

I want to add electric field into a three dimensional structure (zeolite) using VASP5.3.3. I tried it by following the VASP manual: set EFIELD_PEAD tag in INCAR. However, I have some questions about this tag.1) When I set EFIELD_PEAD = 0.01 0 0, does the electric field only apply to one direction? If so, is it along cartesian x, y, or z direction, or along the a, b, or c direction? 2) If I set EFIELD_PEAD = 0.01 0.01 0.01, does the electric field apply to three directions simutaneously?

Thank you very much.
