Dear All vasp USERS

I am still quite new here, and the problem I have usually found is how to create the coordinates (POSCAR) input from the scratch. Is out there any free program to create structures? I would like to know what other users use to make the initial POSCAR input.
For example I want to make C(111) and Si(111) surfaces.
