Spin-orbit and magnetization component

#1 Post by brsahu » Fri May 22, 2009 7:24 pm

Dear VASP users,

In a self-consistent calculation for a (111) fcc thin film with spin-orbit coupling, we chose the (111) direction as the spin-quantization axis or z-quantization axis.

Does the first two components of magnetic moments, m_x, m_y, printed in OUTCAR file, are along the two axes
perpendicular to z hexagonal, i.e.
(1,-1,0) and (0,1,-1) or are they perpendicular to each other, (1,-1,0) and
(1,1,-2)?
